Update 2016-12-21:

The issues currently known are fixed now with:

  • Operation system update to iOS 10.2
  • SongBook+ 3.1.1
  • For the Tyros WiFi issue a firmware update V1.13 for the Tyros 5

Unfortunateley the update to iOS 10 is not without any problems.

Here you can find a list of currently known issues. We will update this article ongoing with additional information and solutions.

1. SongBook to SongBook connection using Bluetooth

The SongBook to SongBook connection between devices using iOS 10 and devices using an older operationg system works only in the same Wi-Fi network but not using Bluetooth.

Also using Wi-Fi the connection establishment seems to be flaky and sometimes only works after a few retrys.

The problem seems to be already known. Here is a bug report of another developer that is already in contact with Apple: https://openradar.appspot.com/27243227

Update 2016-10-05: A customer confirmed that the Bluetooth connection still works if both (or all) iPads have iOS 10 installed.

Update 2016-10-19: Unfortunateley other customers did report, that the Bluetooth connection also doesn't work if both (or all) iPads have iOS 10 installed.

Update 2016-2-09: The problem seems to be solved with current beta release of iOS 10.2

Update 2016-12-12: iOS 10.2 is available now and fixes the problem.

2. Problem with Midifile Player?

A customer reported that he could only replay one midi file and for the second file the play button was not enabled.

We could not yet reproduce the issue.

Update 2016-11-13: We could locate the "keyboard simulating footpadal" causing the issue.

As a temporary workaround you can disable the "keyboard simulating foot pedal".

Update 2016-12-12: iOS 10.2 is available now and fixes the problem.

3. Small issue when using a "keyboard simulating" foot pedal

When a "keyboard simulating" foot pedal (e.g. AirTurn, Cicada) is used and you open and close in the main list view a menu (sorting, playlist, settings,...) the list shrinks a bit on the bottom and a white bar appears. If you repeat it, the list shrinks again and the bar grows again.

But as soon as you open and close a song or the book cover, the list has again the normal size and the white bar disappears.

Update 2016-12-09: The problem is fixed with current SongBook release 3.1

2. Problem with Wi-Fi connection to Tyros 5?

A customer reported that he could no longer remote select registrations in the Yamaha Tyros 5 keyboard using the Wireless Midi connection. On our testing keyboard it still works.

Update 2016-09-4: While testing I could see that switching registrations with the method using code not (no longer?) works if in the song the switch "Send MIDI command on open" is also enabled. This sends the additional commands configured with the "MIDI wheel"  to the keyboard.
Also the button "Restart MIDI" in "MIDI/Bluetooth monitor" windows seems not always to be enough after changing settings around Wireless MIDI. It's better to completeley restart the app then by doubleclick on home button and then whipe SongBook to upper out of the screen.

Update 2016-09-27: In the mean time a few customer reported this problem. I asked Yamaha if they are aware of any problems with iOS 10 and waiting for answer.

Update 2016-10-02: When the WiFi Stick is used in "Acces Point Mode" SongBook+ is blocking on start when it tries to connect MIDI. If the WiFi stick is connected to an wxisting WiFi network, that doesn't happen..

Update 2016-10-05: A workaround is available! Please look here!

Update 2016-10-07: Yamaha is has confirmed the misbehavior in "Acces Point Mode". The workaround above can be used as temporary solution.

Update 2016-12-21: Since yesterday a firmware update V1.13 from Yamaha for the Tyros 5 is available that fixes the issue. Quote from version description: "Fixed a problem in which Wi-Fi communication with certain applications in iOS 10 would not work properly when the musical instrument was in Access Point Mode".

5. Problem with external monitor

When the settings "Show PDFs on external monitor" or "Show videos on external monitor" is enabled and an external montior is conected, SongBook crashes while opening a song.

Update 2016-12-09: The problem is fixed with current SongBook release 3.1
