Since the update to iOS 14.2 (iPadOS 14.2), some customers have reported problems with the Bluetooth LE MIDI adapter Yamaha MD-BT01. The connection to this adapter breaks after a short period of use. The connection can only be re-established after restarting the iPad.

In the meantime we have been able to reproduce the problem with a similar adapter QuiccoSound mi.1 and also with a Bluetooth LE MIDI foot pedal from AirTurn.

It seems to be a common problem with iOS 14.2 with Bluetooth LE MIDI.

The problem also occurs with the current iOS 14.3 beta.

We strongly recommend that you do not update, at least if you are using Bluetooth LE MIDI device connections.

We assume it is a bug of Apple and filed a bug report for the issue. Ans we also contacted Yamaha to help.

UPDATE 30.11.2020:

Yamaha released a firmware update (version 1.0.7) for the MD-BT01, That should resolve the problem at least for these Yamaha adapters.

UPDATE 02.11.2020:

Unfortunatley the update firmware update by Yamaha doesn't yet resolve the problem.

UPDATE 06.12.2020: With the latest iOS 14.3 Beta 3 the problem seems to be fixed. At least with a QuiccoSound mi.1 adapter (something similar to Yamaha MD-BT01) and Genos it is possible to change songs and the connection is not lost.

UPDATE 16.12.2020:
Apple released iOS 14.3. the problem with Bluetooth LE MIDI is resolved with that update.
